Dear Friends:
5787 – The Year of Celebration and Gratitude!
No, you can’t find this in the Bible. But it has been written ... here at LBT!
An unforgettable year awaits. It’s a time to celebrate, and to show our gratitude for, Rabbi Ken Chasen and the lasting legacy he leaves at Leo Baeck Temple after 24 years of service to our community.
First up: Mark your calendars and join hundreds of fellow Leo Baeckers on Friday, September 25 for Camp Baeck Shabbat: A Community Dinner Under the Stars. This magical night will bring together the joy of summer camp and the spirit of Sukkot, as we celebrate Rabbi Ken Chasen and his love of music, community and Jewish summer camp. Immediately following Shabbat services, we will gather under the stars for a cookout dinner, followed by a ruach-filled song session late into the night. Click here to register, and wear your favorite camp shirt or traditional white, but remember it gets chilly after dark, so be prepared like all good campers.
Looking ahead, watch for news of Ken Chasen Live in Concert: The End of an Era Tour. The Rabbi. The Musician. The Legend. Live in concert in his last tour as our Senior Rabbi. It will be an evening of music from the Rockin’ Rabbi himself, as he revisits his greatest musical hits! Enjoy food, drink, concert merch, and possible crowd-surfing! Date and location to be announced shortly.
Our year of gratitude culminates on May 8, 2027 with Heroes & Angels: A Celebration of Rabbi Kenneth Chasen! The entire congregation will come together to recognize and celebrate Rabbi Chasen and his entire twenty-four years as Leo Baeck Temple’s senior rabbi. Join us for an unforgettable evening of stories, memories, food and drink ... and a few surprises!
But there’s more! Also ahead are opportunities to honor Rabbi Chasen’s commitment to social justice, to participate in a community-wide initiative designed to ensure Rabbi Chasen’s lasting legacy for decades to come, a congregational art project, and additional communal gatherings – providing moments to acknowledge our deep relationship with and appreciation for Rabbi Chasen, Allison Lee, and their entire family.
