Give

Why give?

In Judaism, tzedakah is not merely an act of giving; it is a commitment of faith. Each gift to Leo Baeck Temple, whether time and/or resources, reflects that tradition – a commitment of much more than a single act of giving.  Financial contributions provide inspiring worship services, stimulating educational opportunities for children and adults, connection and caring for our congregational community, fulfillment of our  commitment to tikkun olam (repairing the world) and K’Lal Israel (the Jewish community worldwide), membership to all who wish to join regardless of ability to pay our full membership commitment, and maintenance of our buildings and grounds. Likewise, gifts of time and talent provide much needed support of our programs and initiatives. Everything we do is possible because of your generosity!

Relax. Remember. Reflect.

The LBT Memorial Garden is a first-of-its-kind approach to synagogue remembrance. Whenever you are at the temple, you are welcome to rest and reflect in this lovely outdoor retreat, surrounded by the wonders of nature and our congregation’s collection of personalized memorial markers, available for you to honor the legacies of your loved ones with heartfelt words and the placing of a stone, as is the Jewish custom.

Donations/Tributes

An option for a donation is to make a tribute. Tribute donations may be made to honor a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion, to express sympathy, to honor the memory of a loved one, or simply to say thank you.  Suggested minimum contributions is $36 per tribute, and may be designated in general support to Leo Baeck Temple or to a particular fund or program.  Tributes can be made online or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 418, Montvale, NJ 07645, Attn: Leo Baeck Temple.

Ways to Give

Annual Giving Campaign

Annual Spring Event - Heroes & Angels

ATID  - Into the Future

While the membership commitment and Religious School tuition help pay for much of the cost to run the temple, we also rely on philanthropic annual gifts from LBT congregants.  These gifts allow us to provide innovative programming and engagement opportunities for our congregation, while also enabling LBT to have a positive impact on the broader Jewish community.
Every spring, we honor individuals who help make Leo Baeck Temple the special place that it is. On  May 14, 2022, we celebrated Rabbi Benjamin Ross and Cantor Linda Kates for the enduring imprint that they will both leave upon our temple. Stay tuned for information about our 2022 honorees later this year.

ATID was created to ensure the ongoing strength and self-sufficiency of this community to serve our members and to prepare, adapt and respond to unforeseen challenges that may come our way. The way in which Reform Jews choose to experience their Judaism has been changing, and those changes have only been accelerated by the pandemic.  In order to adapt to the changes, both those we can foresee and those we cannot, we seek to make investments in technology,  the future of our membership, scholarship and educational opportunities for our students, and in the recruitment and retention of top clergy and senior staff.

Planned Giving - L'Dor V'Dor Bequest Society

Sustaining Tzedek

Volunteer

One of the greatest gifts someone can give is that of a legacy – a gift that will provide for the present and future of their community.  A planned gift can make a lasting impact and is perhaps the simplest way to provide an endowment or other special gift to Leo Baeck Temple.  Naming LBT as a beneficiary for a set amount or percentage of one’s estate in either a will or trust can create  your Jewish legacy and fund our future.
The Talmud teaches “Kol Yisrael arevim zeh b’zeh” – “all Jews are responsible for one another.”  Leo Baeck Temple has long embraced the conviction that members who are financially able should be counted upon to help those of our members who are less able to afford membership.  Sustaining Tzedek at LBT maintains our egalitarian community, where no one is denied the opportunities of temple membership because of monetary difficulties.
While there are many ways to contribute financially, another important way to give to Leo Baeck Temple is with your time. Whether it be serving on an event committee, spearheading our social justice initiatives, or volunteering to call another congregant in need, we could always use your support. Responding to a Year of Impact - Annual Giving Campaign

LBT’s ability to continue to thrive is dependent on the support of our community. Even in an ordinary year, it takes a lot of resources to make our community what it is. Membership commitments and religious school fees alone do not fund Leo Baeck Temple and we always rely on the generosity of our supporters to contribute beyond the fundamental level of membership.

As you reflect on the impact LBT has had on you and your family, we ask that you make LBT’s annual giving campaign a philanthropic priority this year.  With your support, Leo Baeck Temple will be able to continue to enrich our lives, in both good times and challenging times, for many years to come.
